Research Library

A great resource for park staff members is the Great Smoky Mountains National Research Library that is also accessible by appointment for all visitors. Providing a long list of interesting historical information about the areas history, the library is definitely a great place to visit.

The library is located at the Sugarlands Visitor Center and is open from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. every Monday through Friday except weekends and federal holidays.

Database of the Smokies

A free online resource, the Database of the Smokies consists of Smoky Mountain publications dating back all the way to 1934. With informative and useful information, including scientific reports, travel guides, photographs, historic records, maps and governmental reports, this is the one park resource that will help you find exactly what you’re looking for.
